All things Vancouver will be put here!
Seeing as it's the first real day of my trip here, I usually don't count my arrival day as part of my trips unless I'm in Trinidad because then I try to fill as much of the time up as possible, there isn't that much to update about. I guess I will describe the area, condo & future plans.
That's about it for now. I'm going to restart this laptop and then shower probably before I make a snack and then look into a suspicious call from Telus supposedly that I received today about a free phone. I hope it pans out tbh because I NEED A NEW PHONE SO BADLY!Arrival.
De-boarding was a relatively run of the mill affair, as was the act of getting my bags. The side of the airport I saw was incredibly boring and small. It didn't help that there were NO normal outlets and my phone was dieing. I ended up having to use the remaining charge on my dad's laptop to charge my phone so that I could keep in contact with my parents & Chris. Initially Chris' older cousin was supposed to come pick me up and give me a key to the building but she had to cancel for reasons I still have yet to ask about so I was stuck in the airport for 4+ hours :/Pickup.
Chris eventually came got me and I asked him right off the bat if he had an extra bag at home that I could use, I don't know what point I had to prove or who I had to prove it to but fuck it - I'm a woman and I'm going on an entirely unplanned 10 day trip. To say that I had no real packing outlines was an understatement. I hate being unprepared so I wasn't going to just pack a bunch of t-shirts and a pair of jeans. Anywhore, I feel a lot better knowing that on my return I will have a bigger bag to use as my second checked back and my overnight bag will be my carry on.Chris explained things as we drove back and it was of course raining the entire time. Their answer to Yonge St. looks like Steeles ave - it was trippy. Leaving the airport we drove by some huge Olympic rings standing over the water and I asked him where all the Winter Games hot spots were. Once we were in downtown he didn't even have to tell me but did anyway. The drive from the airport to his place is very short, but there was traffic, something tells me in the middle of the night it would be maybe 10 minutes tops.
Accomodations.
This building is right on Beach Ave, across the water I can see Granville Island and the Planetarium and there's a grocery, drug store & Mc Donalds a insane 3 minute walk away. Chris says Stanely Park where the Aquarium and such are is a 10 minute walk I'm sure he'll take me there this weekend sometime. I've linked to pictures that are the opposite of my view thusly including this condo in the shot :D, with the exception of Granville Island which is a generic shot. The apartment is great and was bought in the 70s so Chris doesn't pay a dime! They've since then redone the outside of the building as well as the interior so it's really modern in appearance despite it's age. Two bedrooms, each on opposite ends of the apartment which gives a nice sense of privacy, a balcony in the living room and both bedrooms. Dining room, laundry en-suite and ironically Chris the chef has an apartment where the kitchen is the smallest room in the house hahaha.I spent this morning cleaning - I know I know, but I was too tired to go out and the place was still kinda messy because Chris is a boy! LOL. I`ll probably venture out on my own tmrw. Last night Chris and I took a walk in the rain to the Safeway and got some groceries, there were dogs everywhere, half of them not even on leashes! The building is also really secure which I like. This unit has it`s own security system, plus you need a FOB to activate everything, including the elevators, it`s nice :]
Future Plans.
Chris just got home from school with his friend Justin whom I have never met and they're planning to go to the gym shortly. I'm mostly hiding in my room because I'm a mess from cleaning and haven't had the chance to shower yet. Chris says my shower is broken but I'm going to check and see if it is then I'll definitely wait till they leave to go shower in his bathroom.
Other perks of the place include a long distance plan built into the fax phone so I can call anywhere in Canada whenever I want ^_^. I've already called my mum at my apartment and checked on the cats! Will probably call Janine, Yousufy and or Arianne sometime soon, Probably Nikki whenever she gets back from J.A. Chris mentioned a mall like Pacific that he's going to grudingly take me to before I leave but the sooner the better because I want to get a battery for my camera so I can take piiiicturreessss! Other stops include Granville island, the Aquarium and since he couldn't get me a ticket to his cooking competition which I'm really bummed about we're going to go out to dinner one night as well. Also he's going to drive me around to see his Grandparent's real estate properties across town :] - we were joking that I'm the grandchild they wish they had in him and we still have yet to meet!
It's currently 11 degrees my Vista desktop thingy tells me but grey as anything outside. The rain seems to have stopped for oh I don't know an hour?
Ciao!
If I am so kind as to patiently sit through your drivel without being rude or hanging up - the least you could do is not hang up on me in turn when I say no the fourth time civilly stating that I am happy with my phone service.
There’s little in taking or giving,
There’s little in water or wine;
This living, this living, this living
Was never a project of mine.
Oh, hard is the struggle, and sparse is
The gain of the one at the top,
For art is a form of catharsis,
And love is a permanent flop,
And work is the province of cattle,
And rest’s for a clam in a shell,
So I’m thinking of throwing the battle—
Would you kindly direct me to hell?

I'm doing second hand promo, thats all from me for now.
As if with a straw you drink my soul.
I know, it's a heady and bitter taste.
But I won't infringe on the torture with pleas,
Oh, I've been at peace for weeks and weeks.
Let me know when you're done. It's not sad
That my soul is no longer of this world.
I'll just walk down that nearby road
To see how the children play.
The gooseberry bushes are blooming,
And they're hauling bricks beyond the fence.
Who are you: my brother or a lover,
I don't remember, and I don't need to remember.
How bright it is here and how unsheltered.
My body, exhausted, rests...
And passers-by are thinking vaguely:
Wasn't she widowed just yesterday?
- As if with a straw you drink my soul.

It's sad, but very haunting - in a pretty way.
So I'm sharing, since I've been neglecting the shit out of my vox.

You're in a car with a beautiful boy, and he won't tell you that he loves
you, but he loves you. And you feel like you've done something terr-
ible, like robbed a liquor store, or swallowed pills, or shoveled yourself
a grave in the dirt, and you're tired. You're in a car with a beautiful boy,
and you're trying not to tell him that you love him, and you're trying to
choke down the feeling, and you're trembling, but he reaches over and
he touches you, like a prayer for which no words exist, and you feel your
heart taking root in your body, like you've discovered something you
don't even have a name for.
